  • Things I Am Not Interested In…

Posted on May 22, 2011 by KK in lists.

…that many other people seem to be super interested in. Am I missing something? -Photography. OK, I love a good picture. I would like to have many good pictures framed in our apartment. I like to take pictures while we are out in the city, and to be in pictures with our friends. I am […]

  • See Big Sur (#13)

Posted on April 9, 2011 by KK in 100 things, travel.

Yes, we have matching sunglasses. Coming home from Dan’s birthday trip to Cambria/Hearst Castle, we drove through Big Sur on the Pacific Coast Highway. The California coastline is pretty amazing. Magnificent vistas abound. We stopped practically every 5 minutes, exclaiming “Look at the view!” The bridge in the last two pictures is fairly […]

Since I last wrote, we’ve been to the East Coast and back. Some travel commentary: Our flight from San Francisco to Dulles took FOUR HOURS. I am not making this up. They told us it would take 4.5, which seemed ludicrously short even then, but it took just a couple of minutes over four. Doesn’t […]

  • Make an advent calendar (#35)

Posted on March 21, 2011 by KK in 100 things.

I’m honestly not sure why I wanted an advent calendar so badly – bad enough that it ended up on my list. I say it’s because I wasn’t allowed to have one when I was a kid, which I don’t think is true. I’m sure if I had really put my heart into getting one, […]

Quite the museum. It has a rainforest, an aquarium, a planetarium, a living roof, and also regular museum type things. If you come visit (WHEN you come visit) we’ll take you to see it. Also, it’s right up the street from one of our favorite bars, bonus. True story. Seahorse. This is how the Bay […]

  • Car buying lessons.

Posted on March 9, 2011 by KK in growing up, lists, random.

Things I have learned from the car buying experience: -Take note, sales people – Dan is really easy to wear down. If you get him tired, it’s even easier. Just talk long enough, and he will probably buy your set of knives/special offer/whatever you are selling. -The scripts/buzz words salespeople use at car dealerships are […]

  • Another day, another protest.

Posted on March 4, 2011 by KK in work.

I teach self defense to women on the Berkeley campus and in the Berkeley community – I think several of you know this. The class I teach is 12 hours long and the last portion of the class was scheduled for tonight, which included simulation. This is where the women in the class use the […]

  • One of those days.

Posted on March 2, 2011 by KK in work.

I was planning on updating you all today about what I’ve been doing lately, because I realized that I wrote a lot about Dan in yesterday’s post. Except I am exhausted. Today was one of those days where I was constantly going from one thing to the next, without a lot of time to sit […]

  • Schlep is a fun word to say.

Posted on March 1, 2011 by KK in work.

Dan and I have the same job. Which requires living on campus. We work at different universities (he is at Cal Maritime, I am still at UC Berkeley). The adjustment period has been interesting. The “how did this happen?” story goes like this: one of his friends from college (Susan) went to grad school with […]
